The Clash 1984-04-03 in Atlanta
April 3rd, 1984 show at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta featuring the final iteration of the band. This is only the first half or so of the show but shows a really killer version of This Is England which would only last a few more shows (save for the December 6 show) before being retired forever along with an in progress Pouring Rain that was not quite to the epic status it would attain by the end of May.

The Clash Live at Barbarella's Birmingham: 1976-10-27

Marky Dread's special remix of the 1976-10-27 Clash show at Barbarella's in Birmingham. This catches the band at a transitional period. Keith Levene has been gone for almost two months, but some songs that won't the first album still get played. Terry Chimes on drums. Special thanks to Marky for touching up the audio on this one.

First verse/chorus of Best of Friends by Palma Violets at the Independent in SF in April 2013. I only recorded the first verse/chorus, because this song is awesome and I wanted to rock out instead of film.

News piece on The Clash with a brief Topper interview. I believe this is March 1980. Thanks to Marlon for the source material.
The Clash - Dictator (matedog cover)

Here's my take on the Cut the Crap classic "Dictator." It's packed full of EET. Oh and excuse the lack of tone, I'm really a drummer.

The Clash - This Is England (Pitch Corrected)

So I noticed the album version of This Is England sounds sped up. Joe's voice is slightly chipmunky. I lowered the key from Eb to D (just a half step) and it sounds a bit more natural. The tempo is the same, just the pitch is slightly lower.

The Clash, supposedly interviewed in New Zealand around February of 1982. This is possibly the last interview featuring Topper who leaves abruptly during the interview.

The Clash - Somebody Got Murdered

From the opening night of the Sandinista Tour in Barcelona on April 27, 1981. As noted, the footage doesn't start until about 25 seconds in. Also, I synced a better audio source to the video file. It ain't great footage, but it's still The Clash.
The Clash - Jimmy Jazz feat. Lew Lewis

1980-05-27 - In Paris France, The Clash played a show in which harmonica player Lew Lewis guested on three songs - White Man in Hammersmith Palais, Train in Vain, in Jimmy Jazz as featured here. He later played on the Sandinista tracks "Version City" and "Look Here." This is the only time they ever played with a harmonica player live and I think it adds a good touch to all three songs.
The Clash - Crooked Beat (kinda live)
Переглядів 1,7 тис.13 років тому
From the pre-US Festival warm up gigs (May 19, 1983 to be exact in Wichita Falls), this is the closest they ever got to playing Crooked Beat live. The exchange: "There's only one way to play this next thing and it's right!" - Joe Strummer "CROOKED BEAT!" - Random guy in the audience "Yeah uh, start the car let's make a midnight run." - Joe Strummer "YEAH!" - Same random guy in the audience The ...

Clash rare take #3. From the 1984-12-06 Brixton Miner's Benefit Show as performed by The Clash (mk 2), this version is a radical rearrangement of the Sandinista tune as performed this night and the following night only. It's an epic and awesome intro and a good allusion to "Working in a Coalmine."

The worst mistake was to get rid of Mick Jones. That's like John Lennon if he got rid of Paul McCartney.
un morceau d'histoire de France !
To be honest in this clip Topper looks more like Stan Laurel (it’s meant as a compliment) as I always say Stan was the first with a punk hairstyle and in car music check out their movies)
Just like myself when i was younger and playing music, they also protrayed the "tough guy stance" but age humbles everybody ..funny how life works!
Strummer was so cool. What a great band.
Lol.
Paul looks very deflated
Parsons just proving you can be a prick from cradle to the grave .
This is so painful to watch knowing Joe is so remorseful over what happened to his legendary band. Clearly they could have kept going making amazing records had Topper not been kicked out, Mick, egos, etc.
Topper was drug addict. But it was a mistake to fire Mick, who founded the band.
brilliant...still....
I could listen to them fumble through folk songs like this for hours, they sound great. I think my favorite part is towards the end where Mick makes a face at Joe singing "sister is gonna kiss my red ruby lips" 😂
Beautiful video
Joe Strummer, born in Ankara to a diplomat with an MBE, lived in Africa and Mexico, raised in an exclusive fee paying boarding school, was living with Sir Terence Conland son around time this was filmed, in a Regents Park mansion, and here he is faking a cockney accent. Pantomime punk, and working on behalf of a subversive socialist agenda.
That's interesting that he says he would have got The Clash back together - glad it didn't happen though. Let's face it, if he'd have lived longer they probably would have done - except for the impeccable examples of The Jam and The Smiths, every other fucker has done.
Maybe I ate too many edibles, but I was starting to wonder what the hell I clicked on there in the beginning. Great interview, though, my heart kind of broke at how quick he was to enthusiastically say he wanted to get The Clash back together. I believe if he had lived longer they would have reformed and really enjoyed it.
the start is the sweetest thing ever
Topper Hendon is so cute,
😍
Just found this in 2024 and it's so much better 🙏
Wayne Kramer just died today 😭
It was a fun and exciting concert! 🎶
He was so gorgeous
Is there more to this interview? Appreciate the upload!
I was at this gig... first punk gig I ever attended... brilliant night.... DJ was Don Letts.
Paul's singing is fine, it's just the shitty audio quality of the recording is all
I love how this has 119k views for a 20-second video. I'm glad I'm not alone when I say I want to see a full video of them playing this song.
God dam, Joe. We wish you were here, sir.
The singing in the beginning was really nice
I honestly could have listened to them fumble through folk songs like this for hours.
Mick Jones...competitive pool player. He does not care about interview. He is wanting to win the pool game.
I think the word Joe was looking for is "gentrification".
I was 12 years old when they did this interview here in Aotearoa New Zealand 24 years later my first son of three was born and his name is Strummer Clash Palace (palace is my surname)
Still relevant today Still gives me goosebumps
Shades on indoors Get a grip
To kool for Skool for with the cigarette 🚬
Joe Strummer should of been in Inspector Morse
These good old times when we could smoke everywhere all the time, so much class Jo ! And an amazing man.
Good Lord, this is painful.
Topper my beloved
Would this be at the ICA. .? Seminal
Reanact the second world war as if no peace ever happened
I have Two Favorite Bands,Linkin Park And The Clash And To See Joe Strummer Just Going On And On While Paul Simonon Sits Their In Silence Just Shows You How Far The Clash Has fallen
CLASSIC MICK JUMP at the end!… class
Can’t beat RUDE BOY when u need proper film work and cam specialists. I caught them in May that year (some show) BUT only when they repeated the BONDS venture in Paris, they sounded great. And weirdly not a lot of footage of that week has resurfaced
And 2 years later they released Lovers Rock, Train in Vain, etc. Its why they’re the best
Lots of comments about fake accents here. The only fake or put on accent here is Tony Parsons. If you listen to him speaking just a few years later his accent is completely different. However, Mick and Joe’s accent remained pretty consistent over the years.
There not very good at pool!
This video demonstrates how being a punk rock star is so exciting!
They took away the whole roots reggae feel … smdh
Topper killer , the most important piece of band.
